Each year the SCWC*LA holds a writing contest in which all conferees are invited to participate. The rules are simple: Write a piece in any form you wish of no more than 250 words based on the topic announced Friday night. The topic for the 9th annual L.A. conference was “License.” Bob Harman of Laguna Beach, CA is the writer of one of this year’s winners.
License

What is a license?
I have one and I wear it around my neck. But I don’t know why. I just do it because my owner, Bob, put it there.
You say it gives me special privileges? Well, that must mean that now I can pee on that snooty little white ball of fur that won’t let me sniff her private parts when we are at the dog park.
Maybe, I can poop on Mr. Fooberg’s lawn without recrimination.
Today, I am going to break leash on our walk above the beach so I can run down the path, skip across the beach and luxuriate in the cool ocean water.
Everybody should have license.
