Leslie Lehr

Leslie Lehr is an author, screenwriter and essayist. After having spent several years in film production and once becoming a mother, she started writing humorous essays which evolved into her first book, Welcome to Club Mom: The Adventure Begins. Her essays have appeared in the New York Times “Modern Love” column, Huffington Post Parents and anthologies such as Mommy Wars, The Honeymoon’s Over, and On Becoming Fearless. The what-ifs of modern motherhood drove Leslie to fiction soon after, with her debut novel, 66 Laps, going on to win the Pirates Alley Faulkner Society Gold Medal. Her screenplay Heartless was produced as an independent film that went on to finance five other films for Santa Monica Pictures, aired on USA TV and has been screening in Europe for over six years. Her next books were the non-fiction tomes, The Happy Helpful Grandma Guide and Wendy Bellissimo: Nesting, featured on Oprah. Wife Goes On, a novel, was a featured selection for the Pulpwood Queens Book clubs. Her essay in Mommy Wars, “I Hate Everybody,” was lauded on the Today Show, and “Parenting Paranoia” was excerpted in Arianna Huffington’s bestseller, On Becoming Fearless. What a Mother Knows (Sourcebooks Landmark) is Leslie’s latest novel, of which Booklist proclaims, “The elements of Hollywood moviemaking and tabloid hedonism blend nicely with the desperate franticness of, say, S. J. Watson’s Before I Go to Sleep.
